Moving Through May – Week One Progress

Monday 11th May

Week one of Moving Through May is complete, and it’s been a fantastic start with 64km achieved already. Getting out and about has been a great way to build momentum early in the challenge, with walks taking me through a real mix of scenery across Lincolnshire.

From peaceful meadows and rolling hills to longer routes through the Lincolnshire Wolds and open countryside, every walk has brought something different. Exploring these landscapes has been a great reminder of how much there is on the doorstep and how enjoyable covering the miles can be when you mix up the routes.

One of the highlights of the week was walking through Lincoln city during the City Champions parade, soaking up the atmosphere and sense of celebration. It was a great moment to combine movement with community spirit and made the kilometres fly by.

A strong first week completed, plenty of miles in the legs, and motivation high for the rest of May—looking forward to seeing where the next few weeks take me.

Moving Through May: A Strong Start

Tuesday 5th May

The first weekend and early May Bank Holiday felt like the perfect opportunity to set the tone for Moving Through May, and I’m really pleased with how these first few days have gone. With the extra time off and some much-needed spring sunshine, I made a conscious effort to get outside, stay active, and enjoy what Lincolnshire has to offer.

I’m happy to say I’ve clocked up 20km already, all through walking. Rather than focusing on speed or pressure, I chose to use walking as a way to explore, clear my head, and ease myself into the challenge. From quiet village routes and countryside paths to familiar local walks seen from a slightly different perspective, it’s been a reminder that staying active doesn’t have to mean intense workouts – sometimes it’s just about moving with purpose and consistency.

What I’ve enjoyed most so far is how achievable it’s felt. Breaking the distance into manageable walks over the weekend made the challenge feel motivating rather than overwhelming, and it’s been a great way to balance wellbeing with everyday life. The bank holiday gave that extra push to get outside, and it’s definitely helped build momentum heading into the rest of the month.

This first milestone has given me confidence going forward. If the rest of May continues like this, I know the kilometres will add up naturally. More importantly, it’s reaffirmed why I wanted to take part in Moving Through May in the first place: to prioritise movement, enjoy the outdoors, and support a great cause along the way.

Here’s to keeping the momentum going, discovering more of Lincolnshire on foot, and continuing to move – one step at a time.

Moving Through May 🌿

Friday 24th Apr

As May kicks off, I’m making a conscious effort to get more active and build movement into my everyday routine. Moving Through May feels like the perfect nudge to step away from the desk, get outside, and prioritise both physical and mental wellbeing.

My plan is simple: more walking, choosing movement where I can, and being a bit more consistent than usual. No pressure, no perfection — just showing up, getting outdoors, and enjoying the benefits of moving a little more each day.

Looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on, cheering each other along, and clocking up those collective miles. Here’s to a healthier, more active May 🚶‍♀️✨
