Charlies Big Coastal Expedition

Friday 15th May
Yesterday, I bravely led the team on a completely sensible and definitely not overly ambitious coastal adventure along the Lincolnshire seaside…

We set off from Sandilands and headed south down the coastline — passing through Chapel St Leonards, Ingoldmells and Skegness before finally reaching Gibraltar Point after an exhausting but brilliant 27.5km journey.

That’s:
8 hours and 39 minutes
Nearly 50,000 steps
One slightly windswept monkey
And several humans slowly realising just how far 27km actually is.

The day started full of confidence:
“This’ll be easy.” “Nice relaxing coastal walk.” “Fresh air and sea views.”

Fast forward several hours and the conversations had evolved into:
“How is there still more coastline?” “Whose idea was this?” “Do knees normally make that sound?”

As team mascot, I maintained morale throughout the expedition from the safety of the backpack, offering emotional support and silent judgement in equal measure.

Highlights included:
Battling a relentless sea breeze.
Watching Skegness slowly appear in the distance… and somehow never get any closer.
Consuming emergency snack supplies at an alarming rate.
Discovering muscles nobody knew they had.
Remaining the only participant not to complain about blisters.

But jokes aside, the team absolutely smashed it. A full day outdoors, a huge endurance challenge completed, and some brilliant memories made along the way.

Would I lead another expedition?
Of course.

Would the humans agree to one immediately?
Current negotiations are ongoing.
