Thanks for visiting my page

On 17th May I’ll be joining 10 of my colleagues at Kier to attempt the 3 Peaks Challenge; hiking the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales all within 24 hours.

We will be starting Ben Nevis at 7am on 17th May with target of completing the ascent and decent in 5 hours. Next is Scarfell Pike with a target completion time of 4 hours, then onto Snowdon with the ascent starting 3am and hopefully competing by 7am on 18th May.

We are doing this to raise money for the Trussell Trust, an anti poverty charity and network of food banks for those struggling in today’s tough economic climate.

Any donation, no matter how small will make a difference to lives of those in need.

My Updates

24hr 3 Peaks Challenge Completed!

Monday 19th May
All 3 peaks completed in 12 hrs and 35 mins climb time! Time for a Welsh cider to celebrate!

Snowdon complete!

Monday 19th May
There were moments when I didn’t think I’d make it, but the feeling of summitting Snowdon still within the allocated climb time was unbeatable! Total exhausting climb time 4hrs 20 mins.

Scafell Pike complete!

Sunday 18th May
1 word, brutal!!! This challenge is so much harder than I’d anticipated. Sore muscles, blisters, loose toe nails and sleep deprivation. 3hrs and 25 mins climb time- every minute of which was totally brutal

Ben Nevis complete!

Saturday 17th May
1 peak complete in 4 hrs and 50 mins climb time including a sprint to the end to beat the 5hr target. Now on to Scafell Pike…

Lions Rock hike- Sri Lanka (3 peaks training hike)

Thursday 8th May
5am start to catch sunrise from the top of Lions Rock in Sigirya, Sri Lanka. Only 5km from top to bottom and 200m elevation gain, but all via 1,200 steps on a rickety, metal staircase that I’m certainly hasn’t had a safety inspection for some time, certainly not for the faint hearted!

Hiking Pidurangala Rock- Sri Lanka (3 peaks training hike)

Thursday 8th May
6th May sunset hike up Pidurangala Rock in Sigirya, Sri Lanka. Relatively short hike only 5km with 158m elevation gain, but super sweaty in the afternoon heat! Finished with a tough technical scramble to the top but it was worth it for the beautiful views.

Hiking Ella’s Rock- Sri Lanka (3 peaks training hike)

Thursday 8th May
Holidays aren’t all about relaxing when you’re training for the 3 peaks. On 4th May we climbed Ella’s rock in the mountain town of Ella Sri Lanka. 12km hike through the jungle with 500m elevation gain, all in 30C heat whilst pulling leeches from our legs and feet,  such glamour 😎
