The Kier Foundation began in January 2012, set up as a stand-alone charity for the purpose of supporting the causes Kier people hold dear.
Supported by its Board sponsors and trustees, the Foundation is an important part of the Kier Group as a whole, it helps to focus our social purpose and gives us a vehicle to do good in a concise way.
The charity provides people across Kier with the opportunities to participate in group activities that increase employee engagement and focus on our own health and wellbeing.
In total, over the ten years, we have raised an incredible £2,704,239
Much of the fundraising efforts have gone to charity partners past and present, including the British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, Barnardo’s, Macmillan, and End Youth Homelessness.
We have supported a total of 730 charities over the ten years. That’s resulted in donations of £723,767 via employee match funding and £161,337 of business match funding.
Another feature of the Foundation is the Winners’ Club, an employee only lottery which, so far, has seen Kier employees win £686,979 over the years!
But our impact is much broader than simply money. Powered by our 95 Charity Champions we have trained nearly 3,000 colleagues in life saving CPR and committed thousands of hours in volunteering.
Over the years Champions and colleagues have organised golf days, coffee mornings, hikes, the 2020 challenge, sleep outs, bake offs, wear red days, festive clobber days and dragon boat races, to name a few, there has been so much!
We were happy to be able to celebrate together and to thank colleagues in person for everything they have achieved over the years. We also celebrated the exceptional efforts in our most recent virtual challenge, ‘Spring into Action’. Teams across Group walked, ran, and cycled throughout the month of March, raising £45,505 to benefit 16 charities across the UK.
We are so excited to see where the next ten years takes us. Together we can do so much to change the lives of so many.
