Thanks for visiting my page

The North West Charity Challenge is back for 2026 to support our Kier Group charity partner, Action for Children. This year we are taking on the Cairngorm 4000s Challenge on 11-12 June.

A tough but classic challenge of Scotland.  The Cairngorms National Park being the largest national park in the UK. The aim of the Cairngorm 4000s is to climb all the mountains in that region above 4000 ft within 24 hours. The route is around 22 miles long with circa 8000 ft of height gain. The scenery is spectacular and the terrain is challenging. Five of Scotland's nine 4000-footers are found in the Cairngorms, and while they are conveniently split into two neat areas by the trench of the Lairig Ghru, a round of the lot is one of the greatest hillwalking challenges in the whole of Britain. Comprising the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth highest mountains in Scotland, and at over 22 newfangled miles, it's a walk to match. While frequently backpacked over two days, the 4000ers are achievable in 24 hours for fit and determined walkers. And because at Kier we like to push ourselves we are not settling for 24 hours we are stretching this target with our aim to complete the challenge in under 12 hours

The 5 mountains over 4000 ft that we will be summiting are:

  1. Cairn Gorm – 4085 ft
  2. Ben Macdui – 4295 ft
  3. Cairn Toul – 4236 ft
  4. Sgor an Lochan Uaine – 4127 ft
  5. Braeriach – 4252 ft
